Hoffman Selected MASCAC Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Year and Minor Named Second Team All-MASCAC

Buzzards Bay, Mass. - Framingham State University freshman guard Kristen Hoffman (Foxboro, Mass.) has been selected the 2010-11 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year and sophomore forward Kia Minor (Edgartown, Mass.) has been selected to the All-MASCAC Second Team in voting conducted by the conference's seven coaches and announced by the conference office this morning.          

Hoffman, who transferred to Framingham State in January, was the Rams leading scorer this season averaging 14.9 points per game.  The 5'10" guard shot 32% from behind the arc in 16 games and 83% from the free throw line as she was named to the MASCAC Weekly Honor Roll on multiple occasions this season. 

Minor earns all-conference accolades for the first time in her career as she averaged just shy of a double double on the year.  Minor led the Rams averaging 8.9 rebounds per game and was second to Hoffman in scoring coming in at 10.6 points per game.  The 5'7" forward collected seven double doubles during the season and ranks fourth in the conference in rebounding, eighth in scoring and thirteenth in field goal percentage. 

The 2010-11 Rams finished the season 12-14 overall and sixth in the conference with a 4-8 record.

Celebrating 40 years of Student-Athlete Excellence during the 2010-11 academic year, the MASCAC is comprised of eight NCAA Division III member institutions: Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University.  Two other NCAA Division III member schools, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sport of men's ice hockey.
