Women's Basketball Downed by Maine Maritime - Minor Selected to All-Tournament Team
Weston, Mass.-Maine Maritime (3-4) put together an impressive
game plan to beat Framingham State College (3-4) 74-58 in the
consolation game of the Park Lodge Tournament Sunday. The
tournament was hosted by Regis College.
The Mariners Jessica Stahl (Bowdoin, Maine) finished with a
game-high 18 points. Stahl shot better than 78 percent (7-of-9)
from the floor, and was perfect from the free-throw line, making
all four attempts.
Teammate Amethyst Cousins (Bass Harbor, Maine) contributed 12
points, while Casey McCloskey (Howland, Maine) and Brittany Hunt
(Hickory, N.C.) added 11-points each.
Samantha Goda (Eliot, Maine) was named to the Park Lodge
All-Tournament team for her play over the two days. Goda finished
with seven points and seven rebounds against Framingham State
Sunday. She contributed 14 points against Tufts University on
Saturday.
Maine Maritime shot an impressive 58 percent from the floor in the
first half, and finished the game having shot 47 percent.
Kia Minor (Oak Bluffs, Mass.), a Park Lodge All-Tournament team
selection, finished her night with a team-high 17-points for the
Rams. Minor was 64 percent (7-of-11) from the free-throw
line. Minor was a rebound short of having double figures,
finishing with nine total rebounds. Eight of her rebounds were
offensive.
Teammate Jill Jones (Westborough, Mass.) added 13 points, the only
other Ram to contribute double figures.
Maine Maritime will return to the court Jan. 7 when it hosts the
Maine Maritime Tournament in Castine, Maine. Framingham State
College will also take the court Jan. 7 when it travels to Mount
Ida College.
