Softball Downs Lesley in Five Innings

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team tallied four runs in the bottom of the first in route to a 12-2 five inning victory over Lesley University in a non-conference game at Maple Street Field.  

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Framingham State 12, Lesley 2 (5 Innings) 

- Records: Framingham State (17-12), Lesley (5-21)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams took control of the game with four in the bottom of the first. Shelby Roode walked with the bases loaded and Marina Cadena followed with an RBI single. Eliza Carignan walked with them loaded and Haley Jensen added an RBI fielder's choice. 

  • The Rams used an RBI double from Roode in the bottom of the second extending the lead to 5-0, but the Lynx plated a run the top of the third cutting the deficit to 5-1. 

  • The Rams added four more in the bottom of the inning including a two run triple from Kelsey McGuill pushing the lead to 9-1. 

  • Lesley plated their second run of the game in the top of the fourth, but the Rams added three in the bottom of the inning including an RBI triple from Gwendolyn Carpenter to reach the final score. 

  • Caroline Hughes earned the victory in the circle going three innings, allowing one earned run on two hits with six strikeouts.
