Top Seed Softball Advance to MASCAC Tournament Championship Round with 8-0 Victory over Second Seed Bridgewater State

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. –  Ally Moran fired a three-hit shutout to win her 20th game of the season leading top-seeded and host Framingham State to an 8-0 win five inning win over second-seeded Bridgewater State in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Tournament winners' bracket final at Maple Street Field 

 

THE BASICS: Score:  #1 Framingham State 8, #2 Bridgewater State 0 (FIVE INNINGS) Records: Framingham State (31-11), Bridgewater State (14-27-1) Location: Maple Field, Framingham, Mass.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Kelsey McGuill's two-run triple in the second gave Framingham State a 2-0 lead and Brooke Grassia added an RBI single later in the inning for a 3-0 lead. - McGuill would lead off the fourth with a solo homer to right, her sixth of the season, to push the lead to 4-0. She was 3 for 3 with three runs scored and four RBI's in the win. - Angelina Lynch's three-run double in the bottom of the fifth ended the game. - Zoe Smyth and Keely Scotia each had two hits for Framingham. - Moran (20-5) allowed just three singles, did not walk a batter and struck out three to get the win. - McKayla Cusack (4-8) started and worked three innings and allowed five hits and four earned runs while walking two and took the loss for the Bears. The top-seeded Rams advance to the championship game on Sunday at noon while Bridgewater State will play an elimination game later today.
