Carpenter, Moran & Roode Earn MASCAC Softball Weekly Honors

Framingham, Mass.- Framingham State junior Gwendolyn Carpenter has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player of the Week, classmate Ally Moran has been named Pitcher of the Week and freshman Shelby Roode has been earned Rookie of the Week honors for the week ending May 8th.   

Carpenter batted .632 (12-19) with a double, triple, eight RBI, six runs scored, two stolen bases, four walks and a .789 slugging percentage to lead the Rams to the MASCAC Tournament title and Tournament MVP honors. She went 4-for-6 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in the championship round wins over Bridgewater State, was 3-for-3 in the first round win over Fitchburg State and 2-for-3 with a triple, four RBI, a walk and run scored in the semifinal win over Worcester State. 

Moran made five appearances during the Rams run to the MASCAC Tournament title and went 4-1 with 2.08 ERA with 17 strikeouts over 30.1 innings of work. She earned the 5-3 victory against the Falcons in the opening round. She tossed a complete game against Bridgewater State, allowing three earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts to force game two during the MASCAC championship series on Sunday. 

Roode batted .375 (9-24) with a triple, run scored, six RBI, two walks and a stolen base as the Rams claimed the MASCAC Tournament title. She went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the 5-3 opening round win over Fitchburg State. She added a pair of hits including the game-winning two RBI walk off in the 7-6 elimination game win over Salem State and she added two hits and three RBI in the game one championship series win over Bridgewater State.
