Marchant and Gunarathne Earn Final MASCAC Softball Weekly Honors

Framingham, Mass. – Senior outfield Dayna Marchant (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and junior pitcher Kelsi Gunarathne (Providence, RI) have earned the final Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball weekly honors for the 2018 season.  Marchant has been recognized as player of the week, while Gunarathne was tabbed the pitcher of the week.           

Marchant batted .556 going five-for-nine at the plate with an RBI, a run scored, two walks, a .636 on-base percentage and a .556 slugging percentage during the Rams NCAA Softball Tournament run at the Cambridge Regional.  Marchant went three-for-four with a run scored and an RBI in an 8-4 elimination game victory over UMass Boston.

Gunarathne threw a pair of complete games allowing 19 hits over 15.2 innings with five strikeouts and a 4.02 ERA at the Regional.  She went seven innings allowing five hits with three earned runs and three strikeouts in the Rams victory over UMass Boston.  She three six innings allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits with two strikeouts in a 2-0 loss to host MIT.
