Marchant, Gunarathne & Caughey Sweep Weekly MASCAC Honors

Framingham, Mass. – Framingham State senior Dayna Marchant (East Bridgwater, Mass.) has been selected the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player of the Week, junior pitcher Kelsi Gunarathne (Providence, RI) has been named MASCAC Pitcher of the week and freshman Grace Caughey (Mendon, Mass.) has been named MASCAC Rookie of the week for the week ending March 18th.

Marchant batted .500 (16-for-32) with two doubles, a triple, eight runs scored, eight RBI and five stolen bases plus a .515 on-base percentage and .625 slugging percentage while breaking the Rams all-time hit record in a 4-4 week for the Rams. She went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI in the setback to Franklin and Marshall College and went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, a double and three RBI in the 7-5 win over North Park University. Tied the school career hit record going 2-for-4 with two runs scored, including the game winning run in the seventh, in the 2-1 win over Northwestern College (Minn.). Broke the career hit mark with a pair of hits in the setback to University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Closed the week with a 3-for-5 performance with a run scored, a double and an RBI in the 5-1 win over SUNY-Fredonia and went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the 15-7 win over University of New England.

Gunarathne went 2-2 with a save, a 1.98 ERA and 20 strikeouts over five appearances (four starts). She went seven innings and allowed one unearned run on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts in the 2-1 win over Northwestern College (Minn.). Also earned the 5-1 win over SUNY-Fredonia, going seven innings and allowing one earned run on seven hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Kelsi also earned the save with three strikeouts and one hit in the Rams 7-5 win over North Park University.

Caughey batted .357 (5-for-14) with a double, a triple, a home run, six RBI and .786 slugging percentage in 10 games for the Rams. She went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and four RBI in the 15-7 win over University of New England. Hit a solo home run with an RBI in the 5-1 in win over SUNY-Fredonia and was 2-for-2 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored in the setback to Bowdoin College. Caughey also went 1-1 in the circle on the week for the Rams.
