Softball Falls to RPI 10-2 in Five Innings

Minneola, Fla. – The Framingham State University softball team surrendered four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning as they were defeated 10-2 in five innings by RPI in non-conference action at the PFX Games.

The game was the Rams second of the day to open the season and the loss drops them to 0-2, while RPI improves to 4-2 on the year.

The Rams got on the board first in the top of the first inning.  Sophomore Mycala Moody (North Attleboro, Mass.) singled to left and after an out junior Kayla Finacchiaro (Natick, Mass.) delivered a two run homer to left center.

RPI got on the board with two runs apiece in the second, third and fourth, while keeping the Rams off the board.

Moody finished the game two-for-two with a run scored, while Finacchiaro went one-for-two with two RBI.  Junior Eleanor Callery (Lowell, Mass.) added a double for the Rams.

Junior Kelsi Gunarathne (Providence, RI) took the loss for the Rams in the circle going four innings and allowing six earned runs on nine hits with a strikeout and four walks.

The Rams are back in action tomorrow at 9 a.m. against Keene State and 1 p.m. against Franklin and Marshall.
