Softball Suffers 11-8 Setback to Stockton
Minneloa, Fla. – The Framingham State softball team opened their season this afternoon and suffered an 11-8 loss to Stockton at the PFX Games in Florida. With the loss, the Rams are now 0-1 on the year and have one more game this evening against RPI.
The Rams fell behind 10-1 before rallying back with six runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit to 10-7. The Rams loaded the bases with no outs and sophomore Kyla Johnson (North Attleboro, Mass.) drew a pinch hit walk plating senior Anna Dziok (Southampton, Mass.). Classmate Kirsten Dick (Tewksbury, Mass.) followed with a single up the middle scoring the second run of the frame. After an out, senior Bridget McGrail (Worcester, Mass.) pinch hit and delivered a bases clearing double to right center. Junior Kayla Finacchiaro (Natick, Mass.) drove in the final run of the inning with a single to left,
Stockton tallied a single run in the top of the fifth and the Rams added a single run on a Kayley Reese (Lake Mary, Fla.) home run to left center to reach the final margin.
Dick finished the game two-for-three with an RBI and two runs scored, while senior Dayna Marchant (East Bridgewater, Mass.) also recorded a pair of hits.
Finacchiaro started for the Rams and took the loss in the circle going a third of an inning and allowing three earned runs on three hits with four walks.
