Gunarathne, Moody & Miller Earn Major Awards as Softball Places Four on All-MASCAC Teams

Framingham, Mass. – Sophomore pitcher Kelsi Gunarathne (North Providence, RI) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Pitcher of the Year, freshman outfielder Mycala Moody (North Attleboro, Mass.) has been named the MASCAC Rookie of the Year and head coach Larry Miller has been named the Champion's Choice MASCAC Softball Coach of the Year as the Rams landed four on the All-MASCAC softball teams as announced by the conference office this morning.      

Gunarathne, Moody and junior outfielder Dayna Marchant (East Bridgewater, Mass.) were named to the first team, while senior first baseman Kylie Boyle (Billerica, Mass.) was named to the second team.

Miller earns his first coach of the year honor after guiding the Rams to a school record 30 victories and the program's first MASCAC regular season title after going 12-2 in the league.  Under Miller's guidance, the Rams captured their second MASCAC Tournament title and are making their second appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Gunarathne earns pitcher of the year honors after recording a school record 16 victories in the circle. Gunarathne led the MASCAC with a 1.51 ERA with 134 strikeouts in 153 innings of work. She recorded 19 complete games with a conference best seven shutouts.

Moody earns rookie of the year honors after an outstanding freshman campaign that saw her hit .376 with two doubles, two triples and 12 RBI. Moody stole 10 bases and was recognized at the MASCAC's Rookie of the Week times this season.

Marchant earns her third All-MASCAC honors this season after collecting a school record 58 hits on the year. Marchant hit .426 with two doubles, five triples, nine RBI and 38 runs scored.

Boyle earns All-MASCAC honors after hitting .310 with 15 RBI in her final season with the Rams.
