Bristol, RI  – The Framingham State University Rams took game two of a non-conference doubleheader with Roger Williams 8-4 to salvage as split with the Hawks after falling 8-0 in the opener.

With the win, the Rams are now 22-8 on the year and have established a new single season record for wins.  The Hawks are now 20-14 on the season.

In the opener, Juliet Hulme (Duxbury, Mass.) and Kelsi Gunarathne (North Providence, R.I.) were locked in a pitcher's duel over the first three innings. Hulme allowed four hits over the stretch while Gunarathne held RWU to only two walks over the same span.

From that point, Hulme started to get into a groove, holding the Rams to only one hit over the following three innings and not allowing a runner past first base.

The Hawk offense, on the other hand, began to heat up in the fifth inning. Julianne Vesce (Mahwah, N.J.) put the team on the board with a three-RBI double, bringing home Meredith Moise (North Reading, Mass.), Tara Chatowsky (North Kingstown, R.I.), and Haley Ledbetter (Westerly, R.I.).

In the fifth inning, Tara Chatowsky drew a bases-loaded walk for 4-0 Hawk lead. Ledbetter then brought in two more runs with a two-RBI single, followed by a sacrifice fly by Vesce. Ledbetter scored the game-ending run on a passed ball, giving RWU the shortened victory.

Vesce went 1-for-4 with four RBI, while Ledbetter was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Hulme pitched a five-hit shutout for the Hawks, striking out four in the process.

Dayna Marchant (East Bridgewater, Mass.) went 2-for-3, while Mycala Moody (North Attleboro, Mass.) was 1-for-2. Gunarathne took the loss, giving up eight runs (five earned) in 5.2 innings.

The second game saw the Hawks jump out to a 3-0 lead in the opening inning. Micaela Pohl (Middleboro, Mass.) was hit by a pitch while Mikaela Grosso walked, both with the bases loaded. Taylor Chatowsky (North Kingstown, R.I.) later scored Amanda Boulter (Wakefield, Mass.) on an RBI ground out.

The Rams would come back and do all of their damage in the third and fourth innings. Framingham State took the lead with four runs in the third. Marissa Flynn had the big blow with a two-RBI single to bring in Marchant and Moody. The Rams would later tack on four more runs in the fourth. Kylie Boyle (Billerica, Mass.) notched the key hit in the inning with a two-out, two-RBI triple.

Vesce got one of the runs back for RWU with an RBI ground out in the fourth inning. However, the Hawks were held to only one hit and two walks the rest of the way as the Rams took the nightcap.

Boyle went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, while Flynn was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs. Jessica Pieterson (Norton, Mass.) allowed four runs in seven innings of work in the win.

Moise went 2-for-4 with a run scored with Ledbetter adding a hit and a run. Rachel Wandzilak (West Islip, N.Y.) gave up four runs in the loss.
