Gunarathne and Moody Earn MASCAC Weekly Softball Honors

Framingham, Mass. – Sophomore pitcher Kelsi Gunarathne (North Providence, RI) has been named the the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week and freshman outfielder Mycala Moody (North Attleboro, Mass.) has been selected the MASCAC Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 19th

Gunarathne earns her second straight pitcher of the week honor after going 4-1 last week with five complete games. She allowed just eight runs, six earned, on 23 hits with 28 strikeouts and a 1.35 ERA.  Gunarathne tossed a complete game eight inning, two hit shutout with seven strikeouts against Trinity.  She tossed a complete game in a 4-0 victory over Plattsburg allowing just three hits with seven strikeouts.

Moody earns her first MASCAC weekly honors after hitting .357 (10-for-28) with four RBI, two stolen bases and a pair of walks in a 4-4 week for the Rams.  She went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI in the Rams 4-0 win over Plattsburgh, while also going 2-for-3 with an RBI and stolen base in a win over Minnesota-Morris.  She also recorded a pair of hits in a 6-1 loss to Geneseo.
