Softball Defeats FDU-Florham before Falling to Fredonia

Clermont, Fla. – The Framingham State University softball team split a pair of games this afternoon defeating FDU-Florham 10-2 in five innings before falling to Fredonia 7-1.

In the opener the Rams tallied six runs over the first three innings and added a four spot in the bottom of the fifth to secure the 10-2 five inning victory against FDU-Florham.

Megan Downing, Anna Dziok and Kayla Finacchiaro tallied two hits and two RBI apiece in the contest, while Kylie Boyle and Lauren Salisbury recorded two hits apiece.  Salisbury knocked her first home run of the season in the contest

Sophomore Kelsi Gunarathne earned her second win of the season going five innings and allowing two unearned runs on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

The Rams were defeated in their second game of the day 7-1 by Fredonia.  Finacchiaro accounted for the Rams only run in the game with a solo homerun in the fourth inning.

The Rams are back in action tomorrow at 8 a.m. against Minnesota-Morris and at 10 a.m. against Geneseo.
