Softball Slated to Finish Sixth in 2017 MASCAC Preseason Poll

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University softball team has been selected to finish sixth, while Worcester State University has been selected to capture the 2017 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Title in the 2017 MASCAC Preseason poll in voting conducted by the league's coaches.     

The Rams are slated in the sixth spot with 20 total points.  The Rams return a trio of All-MASCAC honorees in juniors Dayna Marchant (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and Anna Dziok (Southampton, Mass.) and senior Marissa Flynn (Marlborough, Mass.).  Marchant was a first team honoree, while Dziok and Flynn were both second team all-conference. 

Worcester State landed in the top spot with six of the available eight first place votes and 47 total points, while Westfield State University claimed the second spot with 36 points.  Tied in the third spot with 34 points are Fitchburg State, who earned the final two first place votes, and Bridgewater State.

Landing just ahead of the Rams in the fifth spot is Salem State with 28 total points. Rounding out the poll in seventh is MCLA with 18 points and Massachusetts Maritime in eighth with seven points.

The Rams are slated to open the 2017 season on Wednesday, March 8th at home against Brandeis University at 3 p.m.
