Clermont, Fla. – The Framingham State University softball team defeated Fredonia 8-0 in five innings this morning at the NTC Games at Hancock Park. In their other game of the day, the Rams were defeated 11-1 by the University of New England.
Freshman Kelsi Gunarathne (North Providence, RI) earned the win against for Fredonia tossing a complete game. Gunarathne went five innings and allowed just two hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Sophomore Anna Dzoik (Southampton, Mass.) went 2-for-2 in the game with an RBI and two runs scored, while junior Marissa Flynn (Marlborough, Mass.) also recoded a pair of hits and drove in a run.
The Rams scored two in the second inning on a fielder's choice and on the back end of a double steal as the runner was out at second but Dzoik scored from third.
Flynn's RBI single in the fourth extended the lead to 3-0 and five more in the top of the fifth reached the eight run differential

The Rams (2-6) close out their Florida swing tomorrow with a pair of games as they face SUNY Geneseo at 9 a.m. and Benedictine at 1 p.m.
