Men’s Soccer Edges UMass Boston; 1-0

Framingham, Mass. The Framingham State men's soccer posted it's second consecutive shutout in a 1-0 win over UMass Boston in non-conference play Tuesday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Rams the game's only goal in the 32nd minute when Kauan Gomes gathered a 50/50 ball dribbled around a Beacons defender and snuck a shot inside the right post for his first collegiate goal.  

  • The Beacons controlled paced out-shooting the Rams 17-to-8 but their aggressive offensive play got them flagged offsides nine times in the contest.  

  • Joseph Sturzo made ten saves in the shutout win for the Rams.  

  • Qasim El-Ashkar turned away three Rams shots. 

UP NEXT: 

The Rams return to action on Saturday morning when they close out the regular season with an 11:00am MASCAC clash at Fitchburg State. The Beacons will host Eastern Connecticut on the same day.
