Men’s Soccer Battles for 3-2 Win at Clark

Framingham, Mass. The Framingham State men's soccer team scored a goal in the 82ndminute to break a 2-2 tie and propel the Rams to a 3-2 win over Clark in non-conference play Saturday afternoon.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score:  Framingham State 3, Clark University 2 

- Records:Framingham State (2-1), Clark University (1-2-1) 

- Location: Granger Field – Worcester, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Cougars started the scoring in the 32nd minute when Carter Benoff finished off a setup from Ben Siegel for the 1-0 lead.  

  • The Rams responded a few moments later when Breyner De Pina scored an unassisted tally which sent the teams to the break tied at one.  

  • In the 71stminute Jack Holt finished off a Kaio Santos Da Silva pass to put the Rams ahead but Clark answered under a minute later when Nico Carrillo tied the game at two.  

  • The Rams netted the game winner with just over eight minutes to go when the Rams were awarded a penalty kick after a Cougar was called for a hand ball in the box. Kaio Santos Da Silva tucked his shot inside the right post just out of the reach of the diving Clark keeper 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Joseph Sturzo made four saves in the win for Rams while Diego Marin made five stops in the setback for the Cougars.  

  • The Rams held the advantage in shots 26-to-16and corner kick opportunities 9-to-3

The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Suffolk for a 7pm non-league clash.
