Men’s Soccer Jumps Out to 3-0 Win in Season Opener

Framingham, Mass. The Framingham State men's soccer used three first half goals en route to a 3-0 win over UMass Dartmouth in the season opener for both squads.  

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Rams got on the board in the 20th minute when Lachlan Forgan settled a loose ball and led Kaio Santos Da Silva toward the goal, dribbled around a defender and sent it inside the far post.  

  • The Rams scored two more quick in the 24th and 25th minutes. Gustav Hemmingsen scored off a setup from Jeffson Malachie before Kaio Santos Da Silva scored his second of the game just over a minute later.  

  • The Corsairs has a great chance to score with about 18 minutes to play when a Rams foul just outsid the box led to a UMD free kick from just outside the top of the box but Rams keeper Joseph Sturzo made a diving save to clear the shot from danger.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Joseph Sturzo made 11 save in net for shut out win for the Rams.  

  • Jack Waterhouse made three stops in the setback for the Corsairs. 

  • The Corsairs held the advantage in shots 18-to-16 and corner kick opportunities 6-to-4.  

UP NEXT: 

The Rams return to action on Tuesday evening when they host Trinty College at 7pm. The Corsairs will host Roger Williams tomorrow at 3pm.
