Malachie Hattrick Leads Men’s Soccer to 4-0 Win Over Fitchburg

FitchburgMass  The Framingham State men's soccer team defeated Fitchburg State by a score of 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in MASCAC action.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Framingham State 4, Fitchburg State 0  

- Records:Framingham State (7-11-1, 6-1 MASCAC), Fitchburg State (1-14-1, 1-5-1 MASCAC) 

- Location: Elliot Field – Fitchburg, Mass.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • Framingham State grabbed a 1-0 advantage at the 31:31 mark when sophomore Jeffson Malachie (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) received a feed from classmate Kumphel Sinha (Darjeeling, India) and tucked the ball inside the near post for his second goal of the season. 

  • The Rams doubled their margin seven minutes later as senior Giovanni Green (Montego Bay, Jamaica) found Malachie off a free kick from 20 yards out before Malachie headed the ball into the left side of the net for his second tally of the contest to make the score 2-0 going into the half. 

  • Following the intermission, the Fitchburg State threatened midway through the second half with juniors Dylan McCall (Burlington, Conn.) and Rizkhan Muhwezi (Attleboro, Mass.) putting back-to-back shots on target, but Rams keeper Jake Hartshorn (Chelmsford, Mass.) denied both shots.  

  • Framingham State secured the victory in the 81st minute of action when freshman Breyner Depina (Fogo, Cape Verde) settled a loose ball in front of the net and connected on his second marker of the 2021 campaign. Malachie scored his third of the game moments late resulting in the 4-0 final.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Framingham State finished with a 27-11 advantage in shots, while also holding a 11-3 edge in corner kicks 

  • Jaramillo made nine saves for the Falcons 

  • Hartshorn stopped four shots for the Rams  

 

UP NEXT: 

  • The Rams secure the #2 seed in next week's MASCAC Tournament and will host a semifinal game on Friday evening.
