Men’s Soccer Sneaks by MCLA; 1-0

FraminghamMass – The Framingham State men's soccer team converted a penalty kick in the 50th minute en route to a 1-0 victory over MCLA in MASCAC action Friday evening at Maple Street Field.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Framingham State 1, MCLA 0 

- Records: Framingham State (3-10, 3-1), MCLA (3-6-1, 2-2 MASCAC) 

- Location:  Maple Street Field – Framingham, Mass.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Rams had a great look to take the lead halfway through the first when Kunphel Sinha (Darjeeling, India) redirected a corner to the top left of the net but Sam Edge (Williamstown, Mass.) made an incredible diving save to keep the game knotted at one all.  

  • Just under five minutes into the second half, MCLA was called for a foul in the box that led to an Ibrahim Kyeyune (Kampala, Uganda) penalty shot conversion.  

  • The Trailblazers had an opportunity to tie in the final seconds, but their shot went just wide of goal.  

  • Jake Hartshorn (Chelmsford, Mass.) made one save in the shutout win for the Rams. 

  • Edge made four saves in the setback for MCLA. 

  • The Rams held a 16-to-6 margin in shots including a 10-to-1 clip in the first half.  

UP NEXT: 

  • The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they host Emerson in non-conference action at 4pm. The Trailblazers will host Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences on the same day and time
