Framingham, Mass.- Sparked by a career-high two goals by senior Isaac Perper (Tiburon, Calif.), the MIT men's soccer team improved to 2-0-1 with a 3-1 victory over Framingham State University on Saturday evening in Cambridge.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Perper scored his two goals in a span of 1:20 midway through the first half to give the Engineers a 2-0 advantage. His first goal of the night was an unassisted strike from the top of the box and his second goal came off a bicycle kick pass via first-year Richter Brzeski (Los Angeles, Calif.).
- Framingham State got one back prior to halftime as senior Bryant Nardizzi (Framingham, Mass.) finished a through ball from his brother Bryce Nardizzi (Framingham, Mass.) from the 25-yard line in the 37th minute.
- MIT netted an insurance goal in the 78th minute as first-year Alex Weiler (Portland, Ore.) headed the ball into the back of the goal off a free kick from junior Carlos Hernandez (Weston, Fla.), who was lined up on the left side of the field just outside the 18-yard box.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- MIT outshot Framingham State by a 16-11 margin and held the Rams to just one corner kick compared five for the host Engineers.
- In net, senior Jeremy Cowham (Quincy, Mass.) recorded two saves for the Engineers to improve to 2-0-1, while Rams keeper James Hartshorn stopped the ball four times over 90 minutes and dropped to 1-2-0 this fall.
