Men’s Soccer Falls to Worcester State on Senior Night

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State men's soccer team was shutout by Worcester State 3-0 Saturday evening at Maple Street Field. With the win the Lancers move to 9-6 and 4-2 in league play. The Rams are now 7-9-1 and 3-3 in MASCAC action.

Prior to the game the Rams honored their 3 seniors playing in their final season: Ben Britton (Peabody, Mass.), Andy Segura (Haverhill, Mass.) and Josh Arno (Natick, Mass.).

The Lancers got on the board in the 15th minute when Bryan Basil (Williamsburg, Mass.) scored off a pass from Andre Ipojuca (Saugus, Mass.). About 15 minutes later Ipojuca scored a goal of his own when he gathered the second hop off a long punt from Lancers keeper Jason Barrett (Spencer, Mass.) to take a 2-0 advantage into the break.

The Lancers added to their lead in the 71st minute when Kwame Ofori's  (Webster, Mass.) shot hit the cross bar and bounced right to Matthew Dent (Ludlow, Mass.) who sent it home.

Arno started in net for the Rams turning away 3 shots in the first half. Barrett made seven saves in the shutout for the Lancers.

The Lancers outshot the Rams 20-to-15 while the Rams had the advantage in corner kicks 4-to-3.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday, October 25th when they host Clark University in non-conference action.  The Lancers travel to MIT on the same day.
