Men’s Soccer Holds Off Pine Manor

Framingham, Mass. – Four different Rams scored goals as the Framingham State men's soccer team defeated Pine Manor by a score of 4-3 in non-conference action Wednesday evening at Maple Street Field. With the win the Rams move to 6-4 while the Gators move to 5-3-1.

The Gators opened up scoring in the 10th minute when Jose Corrales (El Paso, Texas) scored with an assist from Alan Zamora (El Paso, Texas).

The Rams answered with three consecutive tallies in the first half to send the Rams into the break up 3-1. Scott Christensen (Lunenburg, Mass.) sent in a long strike with an assist from Ken Stahovish (Springfield, Mass.). A little over ten minutes later Isaac De Souza (Sao Paulo, Brazil) extended his MASCAC leading goal with help from Stahovish. In the final minutes of the half Akeem Bucknor (Manchester, Jamaica) gathered a 50-50 ball in front of the net and sent it past the Gators keeper. 

The Gators cut the lead to one early in the second frame when Samuel Solano (El Paso, TX) scored on a long strike from the right side of the field with an assist from Kevin Chavez (Dallas, TX).

The Rams scored a key insurance goal off a corner kick in the 74th minute when Stahovish sent in the cross from Pedro Santos (Medford, Mass.).

The Gators cut back to with in one in the 86th minute when Akeen Thompson (Long Island, NY) sent one home with an assist from Andree Hernandex (San Antonio, TX) but the Rams were able to play keep-away effectively to expire the clock.

Corey Davidge (Blackstone, Mass.) made 13 saves in net for the Rams. Angel Pena (Eagle Pass, Texas) made 7 stops for the Gators.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, September 30th when they travel to Salem State for MASCAC play.
