Stahovish’s Overtime Goal Sends Men’s Soccer Past Westfield

Framingham, Mass. – Framingham State junior Ken Stahovish (Springfield, Mass.) scored exactly two minutes into overtime to send the Rams past Westfield State Saturday afternoon in MASCAC action. The Rams are now 3-3 on the year and 1-0 in MASCAC play. The Owls move to 2-4 and 0-1 in league play.

After controlling the pace of play for most of the 1st half the Rams finally broke through in the 22nd minute. Stahovish sent a hard cross in front of the net that was sent into the open goal by Isaac De Souza (Sao Paulo, Brazil) for his team leading 7th goal of the season.

The Owls tied the score in the 59th minute when Legend Mu'Min (Springfield, Mass.) tapped in a deflection from Kyle Mutti (Feeding Hills, Mass).

The Rams had two opportunities to score later in the second half but Westfield keeper Griffin Brown (Southborough, Mass.) made two diving saves to preserve the tie.

Stahovish was set up by De Souza in the early minutes of overtime and sent a strike into the left side of the net for the game-winner.

Brown made 8 saves in net for the Owls. Josh Arno (Natick, Mass.) made 5 saves in win for the Rams.

The Rams outshot the Owls 20-to-15 and took 6 corners to the Owls 1.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday, September 19th when they travel to WPI for non-conference action. The Owls travel to MCLA on Friday, September 22nd at 6:00 p.m.
