Ice Hockey Closes Regular Season with 2-0 Loss to Fitchburg State

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University ice hockey team closed the regular season and suffered a 2-0 setback to Fitchburg State University this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Loring Arena. 

THE BASICS:

-Records: Framingham State (8-15-2, 8-11-2 MASCAC), Fitchburg State (14-9-2, 13-6-2 MASCAC) 

- Location: Loring Arena – Framingham, Mass. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Falcons led 1-0 after the first period. With just 3:50 remaining in the frame, Toivo Kramer knocked in a loose puck in front of the net. Michael Imala and Alexandre Bauvais assisted on the goal. 

  • The second period was scoreless, and the Falcons led 1-0 heading to the third. 

  • The Rams had a chance early in the third, but Tyler Westfall's shot from in front sailed just over the crossbar. 

  • The Falcons doubled their lead with just under seven to go in the game when Hunter Dunn knocked home a rebound for the 2-0 advantage. 

  • Trevor Stenberg took the loss for the Rams in net but made 20 saves, while Frederick Soderberg made 35 stops for the Falcons. 

  • Both teams struggled on the power play in the game with the Rams going 0-for-9 and the Falcons 0-for-2. The Rams held a 35-22 edge in shots for the game. 

  • Prior to the game, the Rams recognized their five seniors – Eli Slagter, Cam Lindsay, Andrew Miller, Patrick Colgan and Stenberg – as part of Senior Night.

The Rams are back in action next week in the opening round of the MASCAC Tournament where they are the fifth seed and will travel to fourth seed Westfield State.
