Ice HockeyDrops Heartbreaker in Overtime to MCLA

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University ice hockey team suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 overtime loss to MCLA this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Loring Arena.

-Records: Framingham State (8-14-2, 8-10-2 MASCAC), MCLA (7-16-1, 5-14-1MASCAC) 

- Location: Loring Arena – Framingham, Mass. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Trailblazers grabbed the early lead when Gavin Glaubitz tipped home a rebound just 1:02 into the game. 

  • The Rams tied the game at 1-1 with just under five to in the first when Brent Scott converted off feeds from Scott Bugarin and Jeremy McDonald. 

  • Devante Dixon drilled a wrist shot from the point with 2:28 to play in the second giving the Rams their first lead of the game. Bobby Bernier and McDonald assisted on the tally. 

  • The Trailblazers tied the game just under six minutes into the third when Shane Green slapped home a loose puck in front of the net. 

  • The Rams had a chance to break the deadlock late in the game, but MCLA's Mathew Gover came up with the save and the game went to overtime. 

  • Both teams had their chances to score early in overtime, but it was a breakaway from Alex Ferris with 2:20 on the clock that gave MCLA the victory. 

  • Gover earned the victory for MCLA and made 48 saves, while Trevor Stenberg made 24 stops for the Rams.
