Ice Hockey Skates to 2-2 Overtime Draw with Salem State

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University ice hockey team skated to a 2-2 overtime tie with Salem State University this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Loring Arena. 

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Framingham State 2, Salem State 2 (OT) 

-Records: Framingham State (8-11-1, 8-8-1 MASCAC), Salem State (6-14-1, 6-10-1 MASCAC) 

- Location: Loring Arena Framingham, Mass.         

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams grabbed a 1-0 lead eight minutes into the game when Scott Bugarin converted off a feed from Walker Smith. 

  • The Vikings tallied the only goal of the second period tying the game at 1-1 when Ryan Meagher scored off feeds from Skylar Millar and Carson James with just over five to go. 

  • Salem State took their first lead of the night midway through the third when Carson Whitman redirected Landyn Greatorex's initial shot into the back of the net. 

  • The lead was short lived for the Vikings as the Rams Patrick Colgan drilled a shot into the back of the net from the left side with 5:41 on the clock tying the game at 2-2. 

  • Neither team converted on scoring chances in the closing minutes, sending the game to overtime knotted at 2-2. 

  • Both teams had their opportunities in the extra frame, but neither could find the back of the net. 

  • Trevor Stenberg earned the tie between the pipes for the Rams making 47 saves, while Hunter Thomas made 49 stops for the Vikings.
