Ice Hockey Wins Overtime Thriller 4-3 over Salem State

Salem, Mass. - The Framingham State University ice hockey team tied the game midway through the third and tallied the game winner just over four minutes into the extra sessions as the Rams defeated Salem State 4-3 this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at O'Keefe Center. 

THE BASICS:

-Records: Framingham State (5-8, 5-5-0 MASCAC), Salem State (3-11-0, 3-6-0 MASCAC) 

- Location: O'Keefe Center Salem, Mass.         

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams tallied the only goal of the first period with just over two minutes remaining when Cameron Lindsay scored a shorthanded goal. 

  • The Rams pushed the lead to 2-0 just under two minutes into the second period. Brady Rossback converted off a feed from Walker Smith for a power play tally. Five minutes later, the Vikings would cut the deficit to 2-1. 

  • The Vikings struck first in the third with a shorthanded tally and a power play goal that gave them a 3-2 lead just six minutes into the frame. 

  • Lindsay tallied his second of the game – this one on the power play off a feed from Kaleb Kinsky – tying the game at 3-3 with eight minutes to go in the third. Neither team scored down the stretch and the game went to overtime. 

  • Ashton Collazo tallied the game winner for the Rams unassisted 4:26 into overtime giving the Rams the victory. 

  • Trevor Stenberg earned the victory in net for the Rams and made 37 saves.
