Ice Hockey Soars Past Fitchburg State 3-1

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University ice hockey team jumped out to a 2-0 lead and held off the Falcons in the third period as the Rams defeated Fitchburg State 3-1 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this evening at Loring Arena.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams got on the board first in the opening period when Walker Smith converted from the wing off a feed from Bobby Bernier. 

  • Framingham State doubled the lead with a shorthanded goal with 6:11 to play in the second period from Cam Lindsay. Sam Larkin assisted on the tally for the Rams. 

  • The Falcons cut the deficit in half with a power play goal to start the third period. Michael Macchioni converted off feeds from Jeremy Maillet and Jack Johansen with 16:12 on the clock. 

  • The Rams reclaimed a two goal lead with 3:39 on the clock in the third when Brady Rossbach converted off a feed from Ashton Collazo. 

  • The Falcons pulled the goalie late down two, but the Rams were able to hold on for the victory. 

  • Trevor Stenbert earned the victory in net for the Rams and made 23 stops, while Max Macchioni took the loss in net for the Falcons but made 26 saves.
