Ice Hockey Surges Back for 5-3 Win Over MCLA

Framingham, Mass. The Framingham State's hockey earned a 5-3 come from behind win over MCLA in MASCAC action Thursday 

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Framingham State 5, MCLA 3 

- Records: Framingham State (2-6, 2-4 MASCAC), MCLA (2-7-1, 0-5-1 MASCAC) 

- Location: Loring Arena Framingham, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Rams jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Matthew Nuzzolilo scored with helpers from Sam Larkin and Jake Barcelou in the 8th minute of play.  

  • The Trailblazers got on the board in the opening second of the 2nd when Sean Schifferl snuck one by Rams goalie Trevor Stenberg to knot the game at one. 

  • MCLA scored again just over halfway through the 2nd when Schifferl scored his second goal of the game but Rams countered in less than a minute with a Patrick Colgan goal. 

  • Seven and a half minutes into the 3rd Addam Brunner scored to give the Trailblazers the lead but the Rams knotted it up with just over eight minutes to play when Kaleb Kinskey beat the MCLA netminder Nick Imhof.  

  • The Rams pulled back ahead less than two minutes later when Larkin finished off a great setup from Nuzzolilo and Colgan to take the 4-3 lead with just over six minutes to go. Brady Rossbach scored an empty-netter in the final minute to reach the final margin 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:  

  • Stenberg made 25 stops in net for the Rams to the 31 saves made by Imhof. 

  • The Trailblazers were 0-for-2 on the power play while the Rams were 0-for-1 on the man advantage.   

UP NEXT: 

The Rams return to the ice on Saturday December 2nd when they host Fitchburg State at 7:40pm. MCLA travels to Worcester State on Saturday at 3:15pm.
