Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University ice hockey team led heading into the third period but could not hold off a late charge by Salem State as the Rams were defeated 7-5 by the Vikings in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this evening at Loring Arena.

The Rams tallied the only goal of the opening quarter with 4:30 left to go in the frame when Scott Bugarin converted off feeds from Cam Lindsay and Brent Scott.

The Rams opened the second period with a goal from Brady Rossbach pushing the lead to 2-0, but the Vikings tallied a pair of goals just two minutes apart to tie the game at 2-2 with just over 14 to play in the frame.

The Rams answered with goals from Lindsay and Tyler Westfall to retake a two-goal lead, 4-2, midway through the frame. Keegan O'Donoghue tallied a marker for the Vikings closing the gap to one, but a Matthew Nuzzolilo goal put the Rams up 5-3 after two.

Salem State capitalized on a 5-on-3 opportunity with just over seven minutes remaining in the third to close the deficit to 5-4. The Vikings would then tally three goals in just over a minute span to take a 7-5 lead with 3:42 on the clock.

Scott and Walker Smith finished the game with two assists apiece for the Rams, while O'Donoghue finished the game with four goals for the Vikings.

Aaron Mercer made 37 saves for Salem State, while Liam Kilgallen made 24 stops for the Rams.
