Worcester State Skates Past Men’s Ice Hockey

Framingham Mass. The Framingham State men's ice hockey team was defeated by Worcester State, 5-1 in MASCAC play Thursday evening in MASCAC play.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Worcester State 5, Framingham State 1 

- Records: Framingham State (1-2, 1-1 MASCAC), Worcester State (1-2, 1-1 MASCAC) 

- Location: Loring Arena Framingham, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Lancers jumped out to an early lead when Shane Prifrel forced a turnover in the offensive zone and snuck one through the five-hole of the Rams goalie.  

  • Late in the first the Lancers struck again when Martin Dlugolinsky scored of a pass from behind the net from Prifrel. 

  • The Rams cut into the deficit early in the second when Jeremy McDonald finished off his own rebound with an assist going to Kaleb Kinsky.  

  • Worcester pushed the lead back to two midway through the second when Brady Carpenter scored with Cody Porcello assisting.  

  • Worcester added an insurance goal late in second when Anders Grongstad scored with Brigham Neuhold and Christian Phinney assisting.  

  • The Lancers pushed their lead to 5-1 when Brian Clougherty cleaned up a rebound infront of the net.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Wyatt Friedlander made 46 saves in the win for the Lancers. 

  • Trevor Stenberg turned away 27shots in the setback for the Rams.  

  • The Rams held the the advantage in the game in shots 47-to-32 really pushing for the pace in the third but couldn't convert.  

  • The Rams were 0-for-4 on the power play while the Lancers were 1-for-4 on the man advantage.  

UP NEXT: 

The Rams return to the ice on Saturday evening when they host Salem State in MASCAC action slated for 7:40pm. The Lancers are idle until next Thursday when they host UMass Dartmouth at 5:50 PM.
