Ice Hockey Opens MASCAC Play with 4-2 Win Over UMass Dartmouth

New Bedford, Mass. The Framingham State men's ice hockey team scored three third period goals en route to a 4-2 come from behind win over UMass Dartmouth in the MASCAC opener for both squads.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Framingham State 4, UMass Dartmouth 2 

- Records: Framingham State (1-1, 1-0 MASCAC), UMass Dartmouth (1-1, 0-1 MASCAC) 

- Location: Hetland Arena New Bedford, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Rams scored the first goal of the game late in the first period when Elijah Slagter connected with helpers from Ashton Collazo and Brady Rossbach.  

  • The Corsairs tied it up early in the second period when Collin Patterson scored off a pass from Michael Perrone taking the game to the third period knotted at one. 

  • UMD took the lead just under six minutes into the third when Hank McDonough finished off a Vinvent Nicosia setup to give the hosts the lead. 

  • The Rams answered two minutes later when Matthew Nuzzolilo connected with Jeremy McDonald to even things back up at two.  

  • The Rams Brady Rossback scored the game-winning goal in the 12th minute of the third and the Collazo scored an empty-netter in the final seconds to reach the final margin.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Daniel Davidson made 39 saves in goal for UMD 

  • The Rams out paced UMD in shots 43-to-23 in the contest. 

  • Both sides were unsuccessful on the power play. The Rams were 0-for-3 while UMD was 0-for-4

The Rams return to the ice on Thursday November 9th when they host Worcester State in MASCAC action slated for 7:40pm.
