Ice Hockey Opens Season with OT Loss at SNHU

Hooksett, NH. The Framingham State men's ice hockey team dropped their season opener on the road in overtime to Southern New Hampshire by a score of 2-1 Saturday evening.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score:  SNHU 2, Framingham State 1 (OT) 

- Records: Framingham State (0-1), SNHU (1-0) 

- Location: The Ice Den Hooksett, NH 

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Rams scored the first goal of the game with just over ten minutes to play in regulation when Brady Rossbach snuck a hot past the Penman goalie from a wide angle.  

  • SNHU tied it up with just over four minutes remaining in regulation when Matt Amante finished off a fury of shots in front of the net.  

  • With just under a minute in overtime Brendan Lynch gathered a loose puck in the neutral zone and slid his way through the Rams defense beating Stenberg for the game-winner.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Trevor Stenberg made 30 stops in net for the Rams. 

  • Sean Guerin made 35 saves in goal for SNHU.  

  • Both sides were unsuccessful on the power play. The Rams were 0-for-3 while SNHU was 0-for-5.  

UP NEXT: 

The Rams return to the ice on Thursday November 2nd when they travel to UMass DArtmouth for MASCAC action starting at 7:30 PM.
