Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University ice hockey team and the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs battled to a 1-1 draw this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Loring Arena. 

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Framingham State 1, UMass Dartmouth 1 (OT) 

- Records:  Framingham State (2-17-1, 1-13-1 MASCAC), UMass Dartmouth (8-13-2, 5-10-2 MASCAC) 

- Location:  Framingham, Mass. – Loring Arena 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • After a scoreless first period that saw the Rams take 17 shots to just 13 for the Corsairs, the Rams got on the board first midway through the second period. Andrew Miller stuffed a shot past the Corsair netminder off feeds from Dylan Marty and Ashton Collazo for the 1-0 lead. 

  • The Rams would take the 1-0 lead into the second intermission as Blake Carlson made 31 stops in the first two periods including 18 in the second frame. 

  •  The Corsairs tied the game just over six minutes into the third. The Rams turned the puck over behind their net and Jimmy Pelton collected the loose puck and placed a shot into the back of the net knotting the game, 1-1. 

  •  The Corsairs had a chance at the go-ahead goal with six left to play when Dillon Radin had a look from the right side, but Carlson came up with the save. 

  • Neither team was able to find the back of net down the stretch and the game went to overtime tied 1-1. 

  • The Corsairs had a chance one minute into the extra session when Stephen Perreault had a shot straight on, but Carlson came up with the save. 

  • The Rams had a chance on the power play two minutes later when Patrick Colgan fired a shot from the right wing, but Daniel Davidson came up with the save for the Corsairs. Neither team could connect down the stretch and the game ended in a tie. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Carlson finished the game with 62 saves, while Davidson finished the game with 38 stops. 

  • The Corsairs held a 63-39 advantage in shots for the game, while neither team converted on the power play in the game. 

 

UP NEXT: 

The Rams are back in action Thursday night when they travel to Plymouth State at 6 p.m., while the Corsairs host Westfield State on Saturday at 3 p.m.
