Big Second Period Jumps Assumption Over Ice Hockey

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State ice hockey program fell by a score of 4-2 to Assumption College Tuesday night in Worcester. With the win the Greyhounds are now 2-3-1 while the Rams are 2-2-2.

After a scoreless first period the Rams jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Brandon Hamner (Waltham, Mass.) scored in the opening minute of the second with helpers from Ryan Paul (Morgan, VT) and Matt Siegel (Syracuse, NY).

The Greyhounds answered with three straight scores in the second to head into the third period up 3-1. Cam Laughlin scored shorthanded in the 9th minute followed a few minutes later by a Brian Farrell power play goal. Matt Damelio capped the second period with a goal in the 19th minute.

Jack Sheehan (Norwood, Mass.) scored early in the 3rd period to cut the Greyhounds lead to 1 but that Rams couldn't find the equalizer.

The Greyhounds scored an empy netter in the final minute of play to reach the final margin.

Brian Nazzaro made 34 saves in the win for the Greyhounds.  Greg Harney turned away 35 shots in the setback for the Rams.

The Greyhounds outshot the Rams 39-to-36 on the evening.

The Rams return to the ice when they travel to Fitchburg State for MASCAC action on Thursday, November 16th.
