MCLA Surges to MASCAC Win Over Men’s Basketball 
 

Framingham, Mass. – The MCLA men's basketball team defeated Framingham State in MASCAC action by a score of 67-59 Saturday afternoon in Framingham.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score:  MCLA 67, Framingham State 59 

- Records: Framingham State (5-18, 0-10 MASCAC), MCLA (13-10, 7-4 MASCAC) 

- Location:  Logan Gymnasium Framingham, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Rams jumped out to an early lead up 7-3 about four minutes in after a JD Okafor triple but MCLA fought back taking the lead about midway through the half after consecutive treys by Colby Burelson and Quentin Gittens. 

  • The visitors would push their lead to nine late in the first half but a Jaden Wilson basket near the end of the half sent the teams into the break with MCLA leading 28-24.  

  • The Rams recaptured the lead a couple minutes into the second on an Okafor layup but the Trailblazers answered with a 17-2 run to around the midpoint of the second to take a 45-32 advantage. 

  •  The Rams rallied to cut it to a two-possession game, but Burelson sunk triples on consecutive possessions for MCLA to answer and send it back to an 11-point game with five minutes to play.  

  • With just over two minutes to play Kyle Phillistin rolled in a layup to make it a five-point game but would not get any closer. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Quentin Gittens scored a game-high 36 points going 12-of-25 from the field and 10-of-13 from the line. Colby Burleson scoed 14 off the bench for the Trailblazers going 4-of-6 from long range.  

  • Joshua Saint Jean scored 17 points for the Rams, collecting 10 rebounds for the double-double. JD Okafor added fourteen points and Kyle Philistin added eight off the bench.   

UP NEXT: 

The Rams head to Worcester State for MASCAC action Wednesday evening at 7:30pm. The Trailblazers host Worcester State Saturday at 2pm.
