Men's Basketball Falls to Westfield State in MASCAC Opener

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University men's basketball team was defeated 116-79 by Westfield State University this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Logan Gymnasium.

- Records: Framingham State (4-9, 0-1 MASCAC), Westfield State (10-4, 1-0 MASCAC)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were paced in the game by 23 points on 10-0f-15 from the floor from Kyle Philistin. Philistin added five boards, an assist and a steal. 

  • Jonathan Noel and Adonis Vashon finished the night with 10 points apiece, while Jaden Wilson chipped in with nine off the bench. 

  • Joshua Saint Jean finished the night with eight points and team-best 10 boards, whil Brian Thompson added five assists and a steal. 

  • The Owls saw five players record double figures in the game led by a team-high 20 off the bench from Xavier Lewis. 

  • Juju Omot chipped in with 19 points, while Dom Strother added a double double of 15 poiints and 12 rebounds. 

  • The Owls were hot from the floor all night, shooting 56.8 percent (42-74) from the floor, and 40.6 percent (13-32) from three point range, and 86.4 percent (19-22) from the foul line.  

  • The Rams jumped out to the lead early and were ahead 21-18 after a Noel free throw with 11:07 on the clock. From there the Owls went on a 33-13 spurt to lead 51-34 with just over a minute to play in the first.
