Men's Basketball Falls to Salve Regina 75-61

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University men's basketball team was defeated this evening 75-61 by Salve Regina University in non-conference action at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The first half was closely contested with multiple ties and lead changes with neither team leading by more than a couple.  

  • The Rams opened up a six point lead three times including on Tyrell Staples-Santos free throw with just over three to play, but Salve Regina closed the half with an 8-2 run tying the game at 26-26 at the half. 

  • The start of the second half mirrored the first with the two teams trading points and the lead.  

  • Tied at 45-45 with 11:16 on the clock, the Seahawks used an 8-0 run to take the lead for good in the game. Salve Regina extended the lead to as many as 16 with just over five to play. The Rams closed the gap to nine (69-60) on a layup from Jahden Erold, but that was as close as they would get down the stretch. 

  • Jonathan Noel paced the Rams with a team-best 20 points on 7-of-15 from the floor. Noel added five boards, an assist, a steal and a block. 

  • Staples-Santos chipped in with 10 points off the bench for the Rams, while Josh Saint Jean grabbed a team-best 11 boards. 

  • The Seahawks were led by 18 points from Clay Brochu, while Sean Seymour poured in 16 off the bench. 

  • The Seahawks shot 39% from the floor for the game and 33% from behind the arc, while the Rams connected on 40% of their shots and 31% from long range.

The Rams are back in action Saturday and Sunday when theyt ravel to Norwich for a pair of games.
