Lion's Hot Start Downs Men’s Basketball

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State men's basketball team was defeated by Eastern Nazarene by a score of 87-59 in day two of the Paula Titus Memorial Tournament at UMass Boston.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Lions received double figure points from six players and a team best 16 points off the bench from David Lopez who was 6-for-9 from the floor adding nine boards and four assists. Jacob Waldroop added 13 points while Garrett Crandell, Noah Cheney and Christian Garcia all added twelve points apiece.
  • The Rams got a game best 18 points from Jared Gordon-Anderson adding seven boards. Cameren McCloud-Thomas added nine points while Tajahn Joyner chipped in eight points for the Rams.
  • The Lions came out of the locker room on fire taking control from the opening possession and never looking back. Eastern Naz jumped out to a 22-0 lead capped by a Josh Rice trey over seven minutes into the game. McCloud-Thomas finally got the Rams on the scoreboard sinking a layup with just over 12 minutes to go in the first.
  • The Lions widened the margin to 30 points with 4:26 to go in the first half, 39-9, as Crandell drained a three-pointer.
  • Eastern Nazarene controlled a commanding 44-16 lead at the half while shooting 54.8% from the floor and 56.3% from long range. The Rams managed a field-goal percentage of 25% in the opening stanza.
  • Both squads chalked up 43 points in the second half as the Lions rolled to their second victory of the season.
  • Eastern Nazarene finished with a field-goal percentage of 52.5% to go with a 13-for-28 showing from beyond the arc. Framingham State shot 38.2% from the floor and 28.6% from downtown on the day.
