Salem Defeats Men’s Basketball in MASCAC Action

Framingham, Mass.. – The Salem State men's basketball team outpaced Framingham State by a score of 77-38 Saturday afternoon in MASCAC action. With the win the Vikings improve to 12-3 and 3-0 in the MASCAC. The Rams fall to 5-11 and 1-2 in league play.

The Vikings were led by a strong performance from senior Drew Healy who registered a double double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Jacob Lindland added twelve points off the bench while Shaquan Murray and Alexander Santos added eight points apiece.

The Rams received a team-high nine points from Lorenzo Fernandes (Smithfield, RI) while Charles Valbrun (Hyde Park, Mass.) added seven points with seven boards.

After some physical back-and-forth play in the opening minutes the Vikings hit their stride and took control of the fast paced contest heading into the break with a 44-15 lead. The Vikings pushed their lead to as much as 41 late in the second frame.

The Rams struggled from the floor shooting 22.8% from the floor and 15.8% from beyond the arc. The Vikings converted 41.1% from the floor and 32.1% from long range.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday, January 17th when they travel to Westfield State for a MASCAC matchup. The Vikings travel to Bates for a non-conference tilt on Monday, January 15th.
