Suffolk Shoots Past Men’s Basketball 93-66

Boston, Mass. – The Framingham State University Rams fell behind early and were defeated on the road this evening 93-66 by Suffolk University.  Suffolk improves to 6-4 on the year with the victory, while the Rams fall to 5-9 on the season with the loss.

The Rams saw three players record double figures led by 16 points from junior Manny Payton (Fitchburg, Mass.).  Payton added six rebounds, four assists and two blocks.  The Rams received 15 points off the bench from sophomore Tyri Hampton (Fitchburg, Mass.).  Hampton connected on five-of-11 from the floor including three-of-seven from behind the arc.  Junior Charles Valbrun (Hyde Park, Mass.) added 13 points on four-of-nine from the field and six boards.

Suffolk jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the opening minutes, but the Rams cut the deficit to 11-7 on three pointer by senior Kenny Seitz (Milford, Mass.).  Suffolk responded with another spurt pushing the lead to 11 before heading to the half up 45-34.  Suffolk opened the second half 7-2 run extending the lead and secured the victory.

Suffolk shot 58% from the floor in the game including 50% from behind the arc, while the Rams shot 43% from the field and 36% from long range.

The Rams open conference play on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Fitchburg State for a MASCAC contest beginning at 1:30 p.m.
