Vikings Defeat Men's Basketball 79-62

Salem, Mass. - Salem State's Tavone Wynder (So. Boston, Mass.) led all scorers with 25 points, including seven three-pointers, and eight rebounds as the Vikings sailed passed the Framingham State Rams 79-62 in MASCAC action this evening.

The victory was Salem State's ninth in a row as they improve their record to 13-6 overall and 7-1 in MASCAC, while the Rams fall to 8-12 on the year and 4-5 in conference.

The Viking's Brian Clark (Deerfield, Mass.) scored 22 points including 18 in the second-half to go along with eight rebounds.

The Vikings trailed 33-30 at the half, but Wynder and the Vikings came out of the locker room on fire. Wynder hit three-in-a-row from downtown, part of a 15-3 run that put Salem State up by nine points with 13:10 remaining in the game.

The Vikings were in foul trouble early in the second-half as they were over the limit just under 10 minutes into the half. The Rams answered the call by hitting 19-22 free throws in the game, but it was not enough to overtake the Viking squad who shot 59.3 percent from the field in the second-half.

Freshman guard Tyrone Figueroa (Revere, Mass.) led Framingham State with 17 points, while junior guard Marcus Mclaurin (Braintree, Mass.) and freshman forward Yemi Ajao (Randolph, Mass.) chipped in 14 points apiece.  Senior Brendan Carter (South Boston, Mass.) led the Rams with team-high seven boards, while Mclaurin grabbed four rebounds.

Salem State stays home to face MCLA on Thursday night at 8 p.m., Framingham State travels to Bridgewater state for a 7:30 p.m. game also on Thursday.
