Men's Basketball Falls to Rivier in Opening Round of Colby Invitational

Waterville, Maine - Don Poitras had a solid all-around game with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists to lead the Rivier College men's basketball team to a 71-67 win over Framingham State University on Saturday in one opening round game of the Colby College Invitational at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

Rivier (3-1) will meet Colby, who defeated Maine Maritime in the tournament's other opening round game, in the title game at 2 p.m. on Sunday, with Framingham State taking on Maine Maritime Academy in the consolation game at noon.

Elisha Robinson added 11 points for Rivier and teammate Nick Bean had six points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

Senior guard Royce Veal (Dorchester, Mass.) paced Framingham (2-6) with his first double double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman guard Juan Lopez (Holyoke, Mass.) chipped in 11 points.  Senior Brendan Carter (South Boston, Mass.) just missed a double double with eight points and a game-high 11 board, while Darius Carter (Boston, Mass.) added ten points and four boards.

The Rams shot 31% from the floor for the game (22-70), while Rivier connected on 52% of their offerings (23-44) and 45% from three point range.  The Rams forced 21 Rivier turnovers which they converted into 23 points, but it was not enough to overcome the Raiders.
