Endicott Uses Strong Second Half to Defeat Men’s Basketball 88-58

Framingham, Mass. — The Endicott College men's basketball team received 17 points from senior center Chris Galbraith (Lowell, Mass.) as they defeated the host Framingham State University Rams 88-58 in non-conference action this evening.  The game was the season opener for the Rams who are now 0-1, while the Gulls improve to 2-0.

Endicott jumped out to an early 14-5 lead, but the Rams came storming back on a 15-6 run to tie the game at 20-20 with just under seven minutes remaining in the half.  Freshmen Juan Lopez (Holyoke, Mass.) and Layo Medina (Brockton, Mass.) sparked the run for the Rams.  Medina drilled a pair of threes, while Lopez hit one from long range and made a steal in the back court that he converted into an easy bucket.

Endicott answered with two decisive runs of their own to take control of the game. The first run they used to close the half and take a 35-29 lead at the break and the second, a 15-5 run over the first five minutes of the second half, they used to take a 50-35 advantage and break the game open.

Galbraith, who shot 6 of 9 from the field, led a trio of Gulls in double figures including freshman Lachlan Magee who chipped in 15 points despite shooting only 6 of 16 from the floor.  Sophomore Lance Greene (Dorchester, Mass.) had a solid all around game as he picked up a double double with 11 points and 10 steals to go along with seven assists and seven boards.

The Rams were paced by Lopez who finished with 14 points on 4 of 8 shooting from behind the arc, while Medina finished with 11 points.  Senior Royce Veal (Dorchester, Mass.) chipped in 12 points and a team-high eight boards, while freshman Darius Carter (Boston, Mass.) finished with ten.

The Rams return to action on Saturday as they host MIT at 1 p.m., while the Gulls host Maine Maritime in the North Shore Collegiate Tip Off Tournament.
