Framingham, Mass. – The third seed Framingham State field hockey team defeated #6 seed Bridgewater State by a score of 3-2 in the first round of the 2023 MASCAC Tournament.
The Rams advance to the semi-final round hosted by #2 seed Westfield State Friday afternoon at 3:30pm.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

After a scoreless first the Bears took the lead in the second quarter when Madison Ellis finished off a cross from Lexi James in the 19th minute.

Right around the 20th minute it appeared the Bears took a 2-0 lead, but the goal was taken off the board after a conversation between the officials.

Coming out of the half the Rams scored in the 32nd minute when Kaylee Beck tapped in a 50/50 ball in front of the net sent in by Angelina Serra.

With 20 seconds left in the third the Bears recaptured the lead when Jordyn Perry settled a pass and snuck one inside the post.

The Rams answered when they were granted a corner as time expired in the third quarter. On the corner play, a rebound landed in front of Allison Harmouth who tipped in the loose ball to tie the game again at two.

The Rams took the lead in the 50th minute when Isabella Kondi sent in a strike through the Bridgewater goalie's pads on a corner play.

Kaitlyn Tello made three saves in the win for the Rams while Kailey Hutchinson turned away nine shots in goal for the Bears.

The Rams held the advantage in shots 17-to-6 and penalty corners 6-to-3.
