Field Hockey Rallies for 3-2 Overtime Victory over Eastern Connecticut

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University field hockey trailed 2-1 late in the game before tallying a goal in the final minute to force overtime and then converting a corner just over a minute into extra time to secure a 3-2 victory over Eastern Connecticut this evening in non-conference action at Maple Street Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams took a 1-0 lead midway through the first quarter when Brandi Core converted off a feed from Kaylee Beck. 

  • Eastern tallied the tying goal in the 22ndminute when Grace Barlage assisted on Betsy Davis' goal. 

  • The Warriors took the lead just over three minutes into the third quarter on a goal from Barlage off a feed from Angelina Falleni. 

  • The game remained 2-1 in favor of the Warriors until the closing minutes With just under two minutes to go in regulation Ashley Malmquist found the back of the net off a pass from Isabella Kondi to force overtime. 

  • The Rams opened overtime with a penalty corner and a shot that hit the post. After being awarded another corner, Kondi converted off a feed from Core for the game winner. 

  • The Rams outshot the Warriors 14-9, while Eastern Conn. Held a 10-8 edge in corners. 

  • Kaitlyn Tello earned the victory making three saves, while Hannah Jalowiec took the loss for Eastern but made eight stops..
