Field Hockey Can’t Hold Off Lasell

Framingham, Mass. The Framingham State field hockey team was defeated by Lasell University by a score of 5-1 in non-conference action Monday afternoon.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score:  Lasell 5, Framingham State 1 

- Records:Framingham State (0-2), Lasell (2-0) 

- Location: Taylor Field – Newton, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Rams jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Brandi Core sent home a pass from Isabella Kondi just 35 ticks into the game. 

  • The Lasers answered just over a minute later when Abbey Playle knotted the game at one.  

  • The hosts scored two more goals in quick succession in the 9th and 10th minutes and never looked back.  

  • Two more goals by Lily Stark in the third quarter led Lasell to the 5-1 final margin.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Rams freshman goalie Kaitlyn Tello made 15 saves in net for the Rams.  

  • Tello's older sister, Lasell junior goalie, Courtney Tello earned the win for Lasers. 

  • Lasell controlled pace outshooting the Rams 30-to-4 and earned 11 penalty corners to the Rams two.

The Rams return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host the University of Southern Maine at 2pm.
