Field Hockey Earns 12th Spot in LEC Preseason Poll

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State University field hockey team has been predicted to finish twelfth in the 2019 Little East Conference Field Hockey Preseason Poll as voted upon by the LEC's 13 head coaches.

Keene State has been selected to win the 2019 Little East Conference (LEC) field hockey championship. The Owls, who totaled 138 points and received eight first-place votes, posted an overall record of 18-7 a year ago, and claimed the LEC Tournament Championship after posting a regular season record of 10-2.

Defending LEC regular season champion Castleton State was picked to finish second after totaling 130 points and picking up three first-place votes. Worcester State University was picked to finish third in the poll after collecting 126 points and the two remaining first-place votes.

The remaining five programs predicted to qualify for the eight-team LEC tournament were University of Southern Maine (105 points), Western Connecticut (104 points), Plymouth State (78 points), Fitchburg State (73 points) and Bridgewater State (65 points). Westfield State and Eastern Connecticut came in with 64 points and 60 points, respectively followed by UMass Dartmouth with 36 points. The Rams pulled in 21 points followed by Salem State who tallied 17 points.

The Rams open their season on Wednesday, September 4th when they host Dean at 7:00pm.
