Donelly’s Overtime Tally Send Field Hockey Past Wheelock

Framingham, Mass. – Bailey Donelly (Framingham, Mass.) scored the overtime game-winning goal in the 73rd minute to send the Rams to a 2-1 win over Wheelock College Thursday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

The Rams opened up scoring in the 8th minute when Caitlin Baril (Lakeville, Mass.) gathered the rebound off her own shot and sent it home.

The Wildcats tied the score in the 23rd minute when Katie Frade (Dartmouth, Mass.) converted on a penalty stroke after a Wheelock player was taken down by Rams keeper Haley Duggan (Framingham, Mass.).

The visitors had a chance to score in the second frame when a Wildcats shot screamed past Duggan but was stopped before the goal line by Mycala Moody (North Attleboro, Mass.) and cleared out of danger.

The Rams had plenty of chances taking 14 corners on the afternoon but could not land the striking blow in regulation.

After some back-and-forth in the extra frame the Rams converted when they created a 2-on-1, Moody moved the ball up the right side and fired a one-time pass to Donelly who finished it off.

Duggan made two stops in net for the Rams. Alicia Hubbard (Chicago, IL) made ten saves in her first appearance in net this season for Wheelock.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, October 14th when they travel to Southern Maine for Little East action. The Wildcats travel to Elms College on the same day.
